Just in: David Ornstein says Burnley set to sign £180,000-a-week Man City star in shock deal,…

Burnley are closing in on a shock move to sign Manchester City star Kyle Walker, according to David Ornstein.

The newly promoted Premier League club are on the verge of pulling off a stunning deal to sign the six-time Premier League champion in a deal worth around £5m including bonuses, with Scott Parker shoring up his defence.

The Clarets had a record-breaking defence in the Championship in 2024/25 and earned promotion by registering 100 points, and are now rebuilding their squad for a push to stay a top-flight club for more than one campaign.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan after deciding to leave Manchester City, but has returned to the Etihad after the Serie A club opted against making the move permanent.

But Burnley have now swooped for a shock deal to sign the 35-year-old right-back, who currently earns £180,000-a-week with City, with a two-year contract agreed to take him to Turf Moor.

According to Ornstein, Walker is undergoing a medical before putting pen-to-paper on a contract, with a deal believed to be worth around £5m including add-ons, while City will save around £10m in wages and bonuses owed.

Manager Parker's relationship with Walker is likely to have played a big part in the ability to convince the defender to swap the top of the league for the bottom of the league, with the two having played together for two seasons during their time together at Tottenham Hotspur.

Walker's current contract at Man City is due to expire in 2026, and he had been linked with a move to Everton earlier in the window. However, he is now set to make the switch to Burnley in one of the most shocking deals of the window so far.
