Kyle Walker is reportedly set to join Burnley in a surprise move that will provide Manchester City with a financial boost. The veteran defender is tied down at the Etihad Stadium until next summer but has been deemed surplus to requirements. He spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, making 16 appearances in all competitions.
A permanent exit has been on the cards for some time, with Walker having slipped down the pecking order at City. Earlier this year, he spoke of his desire to play regular football in the hope of reigniting his passion for the sport. Now, the left-back is about to spring a massive surprise by joining newly-promoted Burnley.
Walker is set to undergo a medical at Turf Moor before signing a two-year contract, according to The Athletic. The deal could reportedly be worth up to £5million to City when performance-related bonuses are taken into account.
