**We can't even count the number of times Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin since Eddie Howe took over at the club.**
The media were pretty insistent that Eddie Howe saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the answer to Newcastle's attacking problems, whether they be pre-Alexander Isak or during Callum Wilson's many injuries which left Howe short of options.
Newcastle fans, on the other hand, took a lot more convincing with many, including us, seeing Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a downgrade on Callum Wilson.
Both have a reputation for missing more games than they start, but over the years, Wilson has been way more prolific in front of goal, although let's just ignore last season in that comparison.

Sunderland are eyeing a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
------------------------------------------------------
We've always resisted the idea of signing DCL, but as with every player who comes through those St James' Park doors as a new signing, we'd get behind him if it happened.
However, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin assesses his future after leaving Everton after nine years, [Newcastle World](https://www.newcastleworld.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-transfer-news-sunderland-calvert-lewin-5209344) are now linking newly-promoted Sunderland with a move for the out-of-contract striker.
As much as we have been vehemently opposed to him signing for Newcastle, we genuinely think he'd be a quality acquisition for the Mackems.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin moving to Sunderland would be a win-win-win
-----------------------------------------------------------------
His Premier League experience would make him a top signing for Regis Le Bris as their current squad severely lacks that.
Whether he can play over 20 games in the campaign, and if he can, can he rediscover his goal-scoring form, that would ultimately be their problem, but his presence in the squad would be a positive.
Will it be enough to save them from relegation? Absolutely not. But it would be a win-win-win for Newcastle, Sunderland and DCL.
