Viktor Gyokeres next club is…

Viktor Gyokeres has been one of the standout strikers in Europe, with his name dominating the summer headlines.

The Swedish forward enjoyed a sensational 2024/25 season.

Scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists in just 52 games for Sporting CP in all competitions.

His form sparked widespread interest from top clubs across Europe.

However, despite that electric campaign, his future has remained uncertain throughout the summer.

The 27-year-old is reportedly desperate to leave Sporting, with tensions growing after the club allegedly failed to honour a gentleman’s agreement.

Gyokeres and his camp believed he could depart for around £52 million – well below his £85 million release clause.

However, the Sporting president has denied such a deal existed.

Instead reportedly demanding upwards of £67 million.

That sparked a standoff, with Gyokeres even threatening to go on strike to force through a move.

Behind the scenes, Manchester United have been keeping a close eye on the situation – particularly with his former manager Ruben Amorim now at the helm at Old Trafford.

Despite his incredible numbers, there are still concerns over how well Gyokeres’ game would translate to the pace and physicality of a tougher league.

This may be giving some clubs second thoughts about paying a huge fee.

Arsenal, however, appear to be in pole position after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the striker.

The Gunners seem to be the favourites for Viktor Gyokeres, though a deal has yet to be finalised.

With the situation still developing as Arsenal and other clubs weigh up their striker options, the question remains: where will Viktor Gyokeres end up for the 2025/26 season as he looks to seal a move away from Portugal?

Arsenal

Arsenal are desperate to add firepower up front as they aim to take the final step under Mikel Arteta and lift a major trophy.

Despite another decent season, their title bid ultimately fell short – due to a lack of consistent goals up front

While Kai Havertz offers versatility and link-up play, questions remain over whether he provides the goal return needed for a team with serious ambitions on multiple fronts.

That’s pushed Arsenal to explore several high-level No.9 options this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres emerging as a priority target.

Sporting Director Andrea Berta has been leading the push behind the scenes, with reports stating Arsenal are now close to a verbal agreement with Gyokeres’ agent.

The player is understood to be eager to join Arteta’s side, with Arsenal aiming to wrap up a deal worth just under €70 million.

Sporting have insisted that any exit will be on their terms following Gyokeres’ incredible 54-goal season, but Arsenal appear confident if they decide to actively pursue Gyokeres.

Manchester United

While Arsenal are clear favourites for Gyokeres, with the striker himself is believed to prefer a move to North London.

Manchester United are not completely out of the picture just yet.

Gyokeres is understood to be a dream target for new United manager Ruben Amorim, having thrived under him at Sporting CP.

The Swedish forward knows the system inside out and could hit the ground running under Amorim’s familiar setup.

Stylistically, he would be an excellent fit alongside Matheus Cunha.

As Cunha drifts between the lines, Gyokeres’ powerful running into the left channel would stretch defences, get United up the pitch quickly, and bring much-needed physicality to the frontline.

However, several factors complicate United’s pursuit.

Most notably, the player’s preference for Arsenal may raise questions over motivation – does Gyokeres truly want the move to Old Trafford?

Add to that the financial aspect.

Sporting are demanding close to €70 million, forcing Manchester United to seriously consider whether investing such a fee is truly worth it.

Especially for a player who may not be fully sold on the project and could take time to adapt to the Premier League.

Juventus

Juventus have also been linked with a move for Viktor Gyokeres as they look to bolster their attack during a major summer rebuild.

With goals a clear priority, reports in Italy suggest the club are ready to table a sizeable bid for the Swedish forward, viewing him as a potential focal point for their new-look side.

However, despite that interest, no official offer has been made – and it may stay that way.

Juventus are now close to signing Jonathan David from Lille.

Which could effectively end their pursuit of Gyokeres.

On top of that, the striker seems to favour a move to the Premier League.

This makes switch to Turin less likely unless things change dramatically.

Liverpool

Liverpool are also keeping an eye on the striker market as they prepare to regain the Premier League.

While the squad is packed with attacking quality, the No.9 role remains a slight weak point.

Particularly with reports suggesting Darwin Nunez could be on his way out.

As a result, Liverpool have made contact with Viktor Gyokeres’ camp to explore the conditions of a potential deal.

However, despite the initial contact, Liverpool appear to be prioritising other attacking options at this stage.

Unless their plans change, Gyokeres now looks more likely to end up at Arsenal or Manchester United this summer.
