Reshad Jones, a former Miami Dolphins safety who spent his entire 10-year career with the team, lost more than $2 million in a bizarre scam involving a woman and a financial advisor:

Reshad Jones played for the Dolphins from 2010 to 2019, earning two Pro Bowl nods in his decade-long career. Jones made just over $58.237 million in his career, according to Spotrac.com.

Ryan Mackey of WPLG-TV in Miami reports that Jones was recently scammed out of $2.58 million by Isaiah Williams, his former financial advisor, and a 49-year-old Dallas, Georgia woman named Octavia Monique Graham.

According to Mackey, Williams used $1.58 million of Reshad Jones’ money to pay off a pair of American Express credit cards. Graham, whom Jones told authorities he didn’t know, laundered an additional $1.03 million from his account.

Isaiah Williams reportedly spent some of that money on expensive adventures and luxuries like jewelry, car rentals, first-class airplane tickets, nightclub bills and shopping trips in Mexico.

Per Mackey, Graham turned herself in to authorities on Monday and is being held on a $75,000 bond. Though Williams hasn’t been arrested, Reshad Jones said he plans to press charges.

Now 37, Jones signed a five-year extension worth $60 million with the Dolphins in the 2017 offseason. But as part of a drastic roster shakeup, the Dolphins released Jones after the 2019 campaign, and he was never picked up by another NFL team.

The Dolphins were one of football’s worst teams during the 2010s, recording just one winning season (2016), with a single playoff appearance. But Reshad Jones did his part in keeping Miami competitive, earning Pro Bowl nods in 2015 and 2017.

He finished with 21 interceptions (including four pick-sixes), 55 pass defenses, three forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, 10.5 sacks and 776 combined tackles.
