Manchester United are not done yet in the transfer market, hoping to add more attacking firepower to Ruben Amorim's ranks before the season starts, and Hugo Ekitike is one of many names circling the club.

Quick out of the gates United were able to secure Matheus Cunha's arrival from Wolves and have since set their sights on Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. However, the intention very much remains to sign a striker as well as this additional support.

The situation is also tied to the overall shift of attackers at Old Trafford this summer as plenty stand in line to leave.

Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are four of five stars who have informed United they wish to explore opportunities elsewhere next season. They have been granted extended leave as pre-season training resumes next week so that they can explore the chance to depart.

Meanwhile they may not be amongst those, but the futures of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund continue to be questioned as the strikers only scored seven Premier League goals between themselves last term.

Any funds raised through sales would greatly improve United's footing to go out and sign the striker they are searching for, and the answer may yet prove to be Ekitike.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Frenchman netted 22 times in all competitions last season, rediscovering his form having previously struggled to break through at Paris Saint-Germain.

Now he is reportedly attracting attention from some of Europe's top clubs, supposedly United included, with it claimed contact has been made to discover the terms of a deal taking place.

Meanwhile the 22-year-old has been away making the most of a summer break that some have not had the privilege of because of either club or international tournaments. Now Ekitike is gearing up for his return in 2025/26, showing Amorim and United what they are currently missing out with some home footage.

Videos posted to the striker's Instagram stories show him taking part in private shooting drills before pre-season begins.

In the first he holds off a friend dummying as a defender, clears obstacles then makes a darting run into the penalty area to poke into the near bottom-left corner. He then runs back into position, takes one touch and fires across goal into the top-left corner with the goalkeeper stretching.

The last video, shown in the picture above, has Ekitike taking the ball down and curling into the top-right corner before running off to celebrate.

Granted, this is only light training but it shows the France Under-21 international's dedication to his craft and Amorim has been calling out for a striker brimming with confidence throughout his short time at United.
