The New York Giants believe they have found their franchise savior.
The Cleveland Browns believe they have lucked out on a prospect.
It may take a year to see the truth about this pair of high-profile rookie QBs. But we do have a scouting report ...
New York drafted Jaxson Dart with the 25th overall pick in April's selection process. The Ole Miss product has a big arm and the kind of athleticism that NFL teams love to see in their quarterbacks.
Cleveland took Shedeur Sanders as part of the Colorado star's infamous slide to the fifth round.
So who's who?
"Dart has the physical makeup to be a very good NFL quarterback," former NFL head coach Mike Smith said. "He's the next best guy after Ward and Sanders."
But there is one issue with Dart's game.
Dart is only 22 years old and is considered a raw prospect. We would suggest that New York would be foolish to play him earlier than they have to during his rookie campaign.
With veteran signal-caller Russell Wilson on the roster, it's a safe bet that Dart won't see much of the field. ... at least for a time.
According to Smith, that's good.
Smith shared his thoughts on Wilson and Dart and explained why he was the third best quarterback coming out of the 2025 draft. ... in the eyes of the coach.
Smith made it clear throughout the draft process that Dart was his third-ranked quarterback behind Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. Dart was the second quarterback taken in the draft, while Sanders (who is fourth-string right now in Cleveland) became an afterthought.
Because of all of that, both Dart and Sanders will be tied together for the rest of their careers. Their successes and failures will be compared forever.
Time will tell if the Giants were right to target Dart this year, even if they won't have a clear answer right away.
Time will tell if the Browns were right to roll the dice on Shedeur, even if that takes a while, too.
