What Manchester City have achieved since Oasis were last together as reunion tour gets under way

Plenty of Manchester City fans will no doubt be casting an eye on Oasis’ long-awaited reunion tour, which finally got under way on Friday night.

Noel and Liam Gallagher – who, as we all know, are ardent Manchester City fans – are finally back together on stage for the first time since 2009.

Cardiff’s Principality Stadium played host to Oasis’ first gig in 16 years, which got under way just after 8:15pm.

“Manchester vibes in the area,” said Liam, as Oasis launched into Hello to finally break their hiatus.

A lot has happened at Manchester City since Oasis were last together – Manchester City News takes a look at just what the club has achieved in that time.

Oasis split up in August 2009, during which Man City were in their first full season under the Abu Dhabi United Group, who had bought the club in September the previous year.

It wasn’t too long before City finally broke their major trophy duck as they won the FA Cup in 2010/11, their first major trophy in 35 years.

As we all know, that was only the beginning. A year later, City won the Premier League title in the most extraordinary of circumstances.

Sergio Aguero’s 94th-minute goal not only gave City their first league title in 44 years, but it cruelly deprived bitter rivals Manchester United of the title.

City went on to win eight Premier League titles in total between Oasis’ split and their first reunion gig.

Indeed, the Citizens won the 2017/18 title with 100 points, and the following season, they held off a Liverpool side that finished second with a gargantuan 97 points.

City did something very similar in 2021/22, when Liverpool’s 92 points weren’t enough to win the title.

Going back to 2018/19, City became the first English men’s team to win a domestic treble, claiming all four domestic trophies.

City also won four consecutive league titles from 2020/21 to 2023/24, while the 2022/23 season saw them reach the very pinnacle of the game with the Treble.

All in all, City have won a total of 24 trophies since Oasis were last together.

They have won eight Premier Leagues, six League Cups, three FA Cups, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup and four Community Shields.

Why Liam and Noel Gallagher support Man City

Several years ago, Liam and Noel explained how they became Man City supporters.

Liam told the City website in 2017, as transcribed by 90Min: “There was a teacher, Mr Walsh I think, he used to take the kids up to City at Platt Lane.

“Go there with our pack lunches and that, so that’s how I kind of got really into City, my Dad was a bit of a City fan as well.”

Noel added: “Just get born with it, don’t ya?

“All my cousins and that were all Irish so they’re all United fans. For some bizarre, psychedelic reason our Dad decided to take us to Maine Road first. So, cheers Dad.”
