Fabrizio Romano drops major update on Noni Madueke's Chelsea future

Chelsea played a good portion of last season without a dedicated left-winger. Mykhailo Mudryk, on whom the club had high hopes, has been suspended since December and remains unavailable for the foreseeable future. Jadon Sancho, who was brought in on loan from Manchester United, also failed to make an impact and has since returned to Old Trafford, with the Blues paying a £5 million fine for not signing him permanently.

During this troubling period, Chelsea had entrusted Noni Madueke with the role on the left flank and he put in decent work, considering his preferred position is on the right side of the pitch. However, with the Blues recently agreeing a deal to sign Jamie Gittens as their new left-winger and Estevao coming in after the Club World Cup, the former PSV man's future at the club is facing doubts.

There is a possibility he could end up leaving this summer. Arsenal, who have been keeping a close eye on the player have emerged as a possible destination for him. There is now an intriguing update on the situation.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have had new round of talks for Madueke as the player could be open to the move. Nothing advanced yet in terms of club-to-club approach or direct negotiations but Mikel Arteta's side mantain contacts.

Fabrizio Romano drops major update on Noni Madueke's Chelsea future

Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for an estimated fee of €35 million. Since then, he has made 90 appearances for the Blues, including 41 matches last season alone.

However moving forward, things aren’t looking promising for him in terms of getting regular playing time, as Pedro Neto is currently ahead of him in the pecking order on the right flank and only getting better from the looks of things at the Club World Cup.

It looks like Arsenal have an eye for departing Chelsea players. They are also believed to have added Nicolas Jackson to their transfer shortlist. Will Madueke follow in the footsteps of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who recently completed his move to Arteta's side? Or will he stay put and compete for his place in Enzo Maresca's starting XI? Only time will tell.
