Moe Wagner is staying in Orlando with his brother.
The former Michigan star agreed to a one-year, $5-million contract with the Magic on Friday according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Wagner’s 2024-25 season, his seventh in the NBA, was cut short by an ACL tear in December. Through 30 games, all but one off the bench, he was averaging career-highs in points per game (12.9), rebounds per game (4.9), and 3-point shooting (36 percent).
The 6-foot-11 German center was drafted 25th overall in 2018 by the Los Angeles Lakers. After one season there, he was traded to Washington. He spent parts of two seasons with the Wizards before getting traded to the Boston Celtics, appearing in nine games there before getting cut. He signed with Orlando late in the 2020-21 season and has been there ever since.
Wagner’s younger brother, Franz, averaged 24.2 points per game for Orlando last season. Orlando drafted Franz No. 8 in 2021 following his two college seasons at Michigan.
Moe Wagner played three seasons at Michigan. He came on late in his sophomore season, helping the Wolverines win the Big Ten Tournament and reach the Sweet 16. As a junior, he averaged 14.6 points per game and shot 39 percent from 3, leading Michigan to the national championship game.
The Magic finished 41-41 last season, earned the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round in five games.
