Andrea Berta could need to sign a new winger this summer should one Arsenal star complete a move to Bayern Munich.

Arsenal continue to be active in the summer transfer window with new sporting director Andrea Berta pushing hard to strengthen the squad available to Mikel Arteta, wanting to help the Spaniard finally get his hands on the Premier League trophy.

The Gunners have been linked with long term targets such as Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres, but in recent weeks, fresh rumours have emerged with new names touted as potential arrivals at the Emirates Stadium.

LondonWorld works through the rumour mill to see which players could be signed and sold at Arsenal, and what that could mean for the starting XI.

Arsenal ‘realistic’ starting XI after summer transfer window

Goalkeeper: David Raya

Defenders: Myles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel, William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera

David Raya will continue as number one in between the sticks for Arsenal after another impressive season but will face competition from newcomer Kepa Arrizabalaga. The former Chelsea man has arrived at the Emirates Stadium for a £5 million transfer following his season of revitalisation at AFC Bournemouth.

Chatter around the future of William Saliba appears to have died down, which is a relief for the Gunners given how imperious he is at the back. The Frenchman has a fantastic relationship with Gabriel at centre-back and youngster Myles Lewis-Kelly will continue his development at left-back. Arsenal are ‘in talks’ with Valencia over a move for 20-year-old Cristhian Mosquera with the defender able to play centrally or at right-back. The BBC carried the latest on that story last week with links hotting up since.

Midfielders: Martin Zubmiendi, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have agreed a £15 million fee with Brentford for the transfer of Christian Norgaard with the player set for a medical this week ahead of making the switch across London. The Bees man will have some work to do getting Declan Rice or Martin Odegaard out of the starting XI.

Arsenal ‘suddenly’ push for Eintracht Frankfurt transfer

Wingers: Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon

Striker: Hugo Ekitike

Bukayo Saka will hope to stay off the treatment table this season and own the right flank. Mikel Arteta was less settled on his left winger, rotating between Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. The former has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich by BILD, which could open a gap for the Gunners’ pursuit of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

The signing of a striker also seems guaranteed with one of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko or Ollie Watkins the frontrunners to come through the door. However, Metro claimed this week that Arsenal have ‘suddenly’ stepped up interest in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike amid frustration in those primary targets. The 23-year-old is named a ‘serious’ target and has a £85 million release clause.
