In a shock move at Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford has been stripped of his legendary No.10 shirt. Manchester United are onto a major summer reshuffle under new boss Ruben Amorim.
Cunha Takes Over as Rashford Signals Exit
Marcus Rashford will no longer be wearing the club’s iconic No.10 shirt as confirmed by Manchester United. This comes after new signing Matheus Cunha stepped into the scene.
Cunha arrived for £62.5m from Wolves. He had his eyes on the No.10 shirt even prior to his transfer. The Brazilian forward has discussed that he aims to bring a similar attacking focus to the shirt to what Wayne Rooney delivered during his time in the famous No.10.
Rashford was wearing the No.10 after before that he wore No.39 and No.19 in 2018. Amorim’s decision is clear that the club doesn’t see the player in their future plans.
Five Senior Stars Push for Summer Exit
Rashford isn’t the only one heading toward the exit. He is one of five senior players to have supposedly requested to leave the club this summer. The others are Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia. Amorim has allowed all five players to avoid the start of pre-season to sort out their futures.
Although, Rashford still has three years left on his current deal. However, he is is eager for a fresh start abroad. Barcelona is keeping an eye on the English forward. Meanwhile, Utd have made it clear the club’s medical facilities remain open if the players need them. If no transfers are sorted soon, the players may be called back to Carrington in the coming weeks.
Rashford and Sancho both have spent last season out on loan at Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively. Now, this appears to be the final chapter in Rashford’s long-running story with his boyhood club.
