Everton could help Roma in their pursuit of Flamengo right-back Wesley this transfer window.

The Friedkin Group (TFG) want to give Gian Piero Gasperini what he wants with the Brazil international’s signing, but will look to use the Toffees to avoid having him on the Serie A outfit’s balance sheet for the current financial year.

David Moyes could use someone like Wesley at his disposal, but it seems like the Scottish manager will have to wait for his reinforcements.

The Friedkins instead seem to be prioritising the Giallorossi’s reinforcements, with a decision expected within hours.

Wesley transfer strategy to be understood in next few hours as Everton owners make £21.5m offer

Wesley could either join Roma directly or on loan from the Toffees, which will be understood in the next few hours, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The news outlet reports in its print edition (July 5, page 16) that it’s likely the Blues will sign him and then send him immediately to Roma.

Wesley’s record for Flamengo this season.

It’s been claimed that Flamengo are evaluating a £21.5million offer made for the Brazilian defender, and his willingness to leave could facilitate a discounted transfer despite the Rio de Janeiro outfit wanting a little over £25million for the 21-year-old.

With Jake O’Brien being heavily relied on by Moyes at right-back last season, it would make sense for the Merseysiders to keep Wesley.

Moyes needs Wesley-like transfer at Bramley-Moore Dock

Ashley Young’s contract at Goodison Park wasn’t extended after it expired, leaving the Toffees to bolster their defence.

Moyes may also be without Nathan Patterson ahead of the upcoming campaign, with the Scotland international linked with a move away in the winter transfer window.

While Seamus Coleman has signed a new deal at the Merseyside outfit, the Irishman’s consistent fitness issues make him an unreliable option.

Everton evidently need a new right-back this summer, and it would arguably be baffling to see TFG sign one in L5 just to send him to Roma.

Wesley has demonstrated considerable potential during his time at Flamengo, with the 21-year-old showcasing his talent against Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup.

The Brazil international is still a raw player, but certainly has a high ceiling, which seems like the perfect profile for Moyes to develop.
