Man Utd are set to return for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United are gearing up for a major overhaul this summer, following their worst-ever Premier League season.

The Red Devils ended up in 15th place last term and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final. But manager Ruben Amorim has been given the green light to make changes and overhaul the team in his vision.

United made their first move in bolstering their squad with the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha, while teenage full-back Diego Leon has also come on board after his move was agreed earlier this year.

A flurry of further arrivals and departures are anticipated before the transfer window closes, with Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins among those being eyed. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all set to make permanent departures.

Here, the Daily Star Sport look at the latest Man Utd transfer news.

Brentford have refused to budge on their £63m valuation of Bryan Mbeumo, according to The Standard.

Mbeumo is reportedly keen on a switch to Manchester United this summer, but Brentford have already turned down two offers for the forward. United's most recent bid was an initial £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons, but Brentford are reportedly holding out for more than the £62.5m United shelled out for Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

"He had a fantastic season," Brentford's director of football Phil Giles recently said when asked about Mbeumo's future. "We expected big interest in him; we have had big interest in him. He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career. He is well within his rights to do that. It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree he is going to stay."

United are reportedly seeking £25m for mega flop Jadon Sancho this summer, with the winger anticipated to secure a permanent departure following his loan spell at Chelsea last season.

The Blues paid a £5m penalty fee to dodge signing Sancho on a permanent basis after he managed just eight goal contributions across 31 Premier League outings. Reports from Corriere dello Sport suggest Juventus are prepared to offer Sancho a fresh start.

The publication claims United are looking for around £25m to part ways with the forward, who is understood to be eager for a switch to Italy.

Newcastle have tabled an improved £55m offer for ex-United winger Anthony Elanga, as reported by the Mail.

Elanga made the switch to Nottingham Forest from United in 2023, and the report suggests the Red Devils are owed roughly 15 per cent of any profit should the winger be sold. If Forest accept Newcastle's proposal, United stand to pocket £6m.

Elanga had a standout season last year, contributing to 17 goals in 38 Premier League appearances for Forest. This helped them secure a seventh-place finish and their first European qualification in nearly three decades.
