£68m Winger, PL Striker And More: Every Player Linked To Arsenal This Week

Arsenal have been linked with eight players over the past week, with it looking likely that they could land at least one of them next week.

The Gunners have already agreed to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, and Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

However, there are eight players that they were linked with this week, who are yet to sign, but any number of them could be playing in red and white come the start of the Premier League season. This is who they are…

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

In a fresh report, it has been said that Arsenal and Man United are both eyeing up a move for Villa striker Watkins, who is expected to cost around £60m.

Arsenal made a £40m bid for Watkins in January, which was rejected by Aston Villa, but it now seems that they have re-ignited their interest in him.

Could it happen? – This one is potentially doable. Considering Arsenal bid on him in January, there is clearly interest, but it will be a question of if Villa are prepared to sell him.

Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

It seems that Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to sign Eze. Reports this week said that the Palace star has agreed personal terms with the Gunners.

With that in mind, they just need to agree a fee. He has a £68m release clause, but it is not clear if the Gunners are willing to pay that.

Could it happen? – This one feels more likely than the Watkins deal. We’d go as far as saying it could be completed as soon as next week.

Cristhian Mosquera – Valencia

Mosquera has reportedly told Valencia that he wants them to negotiate a sale with Arsenal, despite the La Liga club not wanting to sign him.

Arsenal made an initial bid for the defender, but it now seems they will make a second bid when a fee is agreed.

Could it happen? – It feels more of a question of when rather than if, because Mosquera has said he wants the move.

Maghnes Akliouche – Monaco

It was reported from French news outlets this week that Arsenal are considering a move to sign Monaco winger Akliouche.

He would be an alternative winger target to the likes of Eze and Noni Madueke, but at a cost of £60m, not the cheapest.

Could it happen? – This feels more unlikely, as not only is Akliouche expensive, Arsenal have several other wingers that they have shown more interest in.

Viktor Gyokeres – Sporting CP

Gyokeres has basically been the story of the Gunners’ summer. It seems now that they are looking at the Swede more than Benjamin Sesko.

He wants to join Arsenal, and if a fee of around £70m can be agreed, the Gunners could finally land their number nine.

Could it happen? – If we were to bet on which striker Arsenal will sign this summer, it would be Gyokeres.

Pepe – Porto

Reports in Portugal have said that Arsenal have made enquiries about signing 28-year-old Porto winger Pepe this summer to add more depth at the position.

It seems as though Porto are open to letting him leave for a low-ish fee, lower than the likes of Eze and Madueke for sure.

Could it happen? – Like Akliouche, it just feels as though Arsenal will prioritise their alternative options instead.

Noni Madueke – Chelsea

He’s been mentioned a few times here, but reports have said that Arsenal are considering a bid for Chelsea star Madueke, to be Bukayo Saka’s backup.

It is understood that the Blues would want around £50m for him, but it is not clear yet as to whether they would sell him to the Gunners.

Could it happen? – Madueke to the Emirates feels more likely than when it first emerged for sure, it all hinges on whether Chelsea would allow him to join a rival.

Hugo Ekitike – Eintracht Frankfurt

Finally, the other alternative to Gyokeres, Arsenal have also been linked with Frankfurt’s Ekitike, alongside Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United.

The Bundesliga club reportedly want around £85m for the 22-year-old, making him more expensive than both Gyokeres and Sesko.

Could it happen? – This feels unlikely, simply because of Frankfurt’s asking price. If Ekitike was cheaper than Gyokeres, then you never know.
