Arsenal are ready to add former Man United fullback Gabriel Heinze as a coach after losing assistant coach Carlos Cuesta.
The Argentine had a great career as a player at Man United. He lifted the Premier League trophy with the Red Devils as well. He will be taking up as a coaching position at the Emirates. Heinze and Arteta have a personal connection back when they played for PSG together. The Spaniard has calls Heinze as the most motivated player he has ever played with.
Heinze has great experience around Europe and South America as a player and as a manager as well. So, Arteta’s decision in bringing in the Argentine will likely turn up good. This is another way to add experience and depth to his coaching team ahead of the new season.
From Old Trafford Hero to Gunners Mentor
Heinze has got success in Argentina, France, and Spain, winning league titles across all. He also received an Olympic gold medal with his country.
He joined Man Utd for a fee of £6.9m in 2004. He quickly made his mark as he scored on his debut. Although, injuries derailed his impact at Old Trafford. Given that, it gave Patrice Evra more game time and lost his place in the team. However, Heinze still made 83 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson.
While trying to switch to United’s rivals, Liverpool ended badly, he eventually joined Real Madrid. Heinze has appeared at two FIFA World Cups and multiple Copa America tournaments, earning 72 caps for Argentina.
Since 2015, he has managed five clubs, with his last being Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina. He will bring an experienced character to the Arsenal coaching bench. He will make his mark strategically in the team. The coach will help progresses the Club more seriously with Arteta as it looks to push for silverware.
