Tottenham fail with £32m bid for Brazilian attacker with Premier League experience

Tottenham have seen their opening bid for Rodrigo Muniz rebuffed by Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with several attacking talents such as, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, with new boss Thomas Frank keen on quality, game-changing stars to help his team compete for the top four spots in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites finished the last Premier League campaign just a place above the relegation zone, and that should have been enough for Daniel Levy to know that reinforcements are needed in all areas of the pitch, especially in attack. Many key players underperformed as Spurs found it tough to manufacture positive results in the Premier League.

Son Heung-min looked past his best, struggling to keep up with the speed and intensity of the league, while Richarlison’s injury issues continued. This left Dominic Solanke to shoulder the responsibility of leading the Spurs attack all by himself, and he blew hot and cold in his debut season at N17. This is why the club have been exploring options to replace Richarlison with a reliable striker who can provide quality cover as well as compete with Solanke next season.

Tottenham considering upping their ante for Rodrigo Muniz

Tottenham’s opening bid for Rodrigo Muniz has been rejected by Fulham

Recent reports suggested that Tottenham have an interest in Fulham centre-forward Rodrigo Muniz. They were planning to make contact with the Cottagers over the possibility of bringing the Brazilian to N17.

Now, according to Brazilian outlet Bolavip, Spurs have had a £32m bid rejected for Rodrigo Muniz. Fulham are adamant that they do not want to sell the 24-year-old this summer as they want to keep their squad together and are planning on offering him a new contract to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.

The centre-forward’s current terms expire in 2026 (Transfermarkt), so Tottenham’s idea perhaps was to test the West Londoners’ resolve with a cheeky £32m bid. But, the Cottagers have no interest to let go the South American, who majorly played as a back-up to Raul Jimenez and still ended up scoring eight goals in 31 Premier League games.

Should Daniel Levy go with an improved second bid for Rodrigo Muniz or look out for alternative targets?

Fulham appear to stay firm in their stand when it comes to Muniz. Whether Tottenham now come up with an improved offer or move onto alternative targets remains to be seen. Truth be told, it is tough dealing with one of our London rivals, and the sensible thing we must do is make checks on other options.

Rennes’ Arnaud Kalimuendo has been of interest to the Lilywhites and his reported asking price is above €30m. Given we are hunting for a back-up to Solanke, Kalimuendo would be an option Levy must consider.
