Wayne Rooney names top three Oasis songs, Noel Gallagher once trolled Man Utd legend with gift

Wayne Rooney has revealed his favourite Oasis tracks as the rock and roll band reunite on stage for the first time in almost 16 years – with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher starting their world tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Although Oasis are renowned for detesting everything related to Manchester United, there is no denying that their world tour is the biggest show in town this summer.

There will be plenty of United fans who listened to Oasis back when they started in 1994, and there will be many of them seen attending the gigs over the coming months.

After Oasis split in 2009, Noel Gallagher maintained he would never go back and the brothers would exchange insults through separate interviews (as well as social media).

But now, here they are. There’s Oasis-mania in the air. There will be current and former United players trying to get in on the action.

Wayne Rooney reveals top 3 Oasis songs

Former United striker Wayne Rooney is a big music fan.

After previously revealing that he would listen to Susan Boyle before matches or arrange Westlife to play at his wedding, it would be fair to say Rooney has a mixed taste in music.

In the lead up to the return of Oasis, the BBC asked Rooney to list his favourite Oasis tracks.

“I’m a big Oasis fan,” Rooney said. “It’s difficult to pick three top songs because there’s so many good songs.

“I like Cigarettes and Alcohol, Wonderwall, Half The World Away.

“There’s so many top songs which they have and I’m really looking forward to watching them.”

Noel Gallagher trolled Wayne Rooney

Lifelong City fan and Oasis songwriter/guitarist Noel Gallagher trolled Rooney for his 21st birthday.

Rooney’s wife, Coleen requested a signed guitar, so Noel graffitied it with Man City colours and chants before sending it back.

Rooney told the BBC his own version of events.

“I was lucky enough to get one of the guitars off them when I was younger,” he added.

“I think it was Noel who spray painted it sky blue and put ‘Happy birthday Spongebob’. I think he thought he messed it up, but it’s a one off so I really like that guitar.”
