Diogo Jota’s passing has hit everyone involved with Liverpool like a ton of bricks.
The Portugal international was only 28 years old and had the rest of his life ahead of him.
He’d only married the love of his life less than two weeks ago, and now his three kids are left without a dad.
Tributes from former teammates, clubs and current teammates such as Ibrahima Konate have poured in, with everyone in the footballing world taken aback by the news that broke on Thursday morning.
His brother, Andre Silva, was also in the car at the time of the accident, with the 25-year-old also passing away.

The next few months will no doubt be hard for Liverpool to comprehend and compose themselves with tributes likely to come out throughout the rest of the season.

Liverpool must dedicate the 2025-26 season to Diogo Jota
If Liverpool weren’t already determined to retain the Premier League title this season, Jota’s passing should make them want it even more.
The attacker helped the Reds win their 20th Premier League title while wearing the number 20, and, at the moment, it’s looking likely that the number will be retired in his name.
Jota still had so much to live for and so much to prove both inside and outside of football.
This entire situation has put into perspective how precious life actually is and how cruel it can also be at times.
Things will never be the same at Anfield, but one thing is for sure: his teammates will do everything they can to honour his legacy.
Rest in peace, Diogo.
