Milwall striker Mihailo Ivanovic’s potential has been spotted by Everton and several other top-flight clubs this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about Ivanovic’s chances of a transfer this summer.

The 20-year-old scored 13 goals over 40 appearances in all competitions last season after a £2.8million move from Vojvodina, and that form has attracted attention from the Premier League duo and beyond.

Everton are in the market for a new striker after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s much-anticipated departure on a free transfer, and sources w told Football Insider that both they and Wolves are big fans of Ivanovic.

Millwall are already anticipating the cut-price exit of Japhet Tanganga, but Football Insider sources have said that Alex Neil’s side will demand “big, big money” if they are forced to sell Ivanovic this summer.

Lazio are another side keen on Ivanovic after they also missed out on European football next season, but Everton are confident they can sign Ivanovic as they close in on a deal for Villarreal’s Thierno Barry.

Millwall resigned to Ivanovic exit as Everton, Wolves pounce

Football Insider revealed on 14 June that Everton would have to spend close to £35m to sign Barry as their new number nine this summer, and Ivanovic would give David Moyes further options up front.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that Millwall will struggle to keep hold of Ivanovic this summer despite his long-term contract, as top-level Premier League and European sides prepare offers.

“I’m not surprised that there’s growing interest in Ivanovic”, he told Football Insider.

“He’s a player with huge potential and that’s maybe what Everton have spotted.

“There’ll be a number of clubs looking at him. Wolves have been, and even Lazio as well – so for Millwall, they could have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Ivanovic.

“If Millwall were to sell him, they’ll be looking at big, big money – when these Premier League and top European clubs come calling, Millwall will find it hard to keep hold of him.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Premier League clubs are looking at him, and Millwall will be fearing the worst – they could end up losing him this summer.”

Everton transfer plan made clear amid Ivanovic interest

Although Everton are close to making Barry their first statement signing of a new era on Merseyside, the exits of Calvert-Lewin and Chelsea loanee Armando Broja leaves several gaps to fill in their attack.

Scouring the Championship for its best talent has long been a successful strategy of Moyes‘, and fans will hope that if they win the race for Ivanovic, he can replicate the impact of Tim Cahill or Jarrod Bowen.

Cahill became a club legend at Goodison Park after his own move from Millwall in 2004, and if Moyes uses part of his £70m transfer budget to sign Ivanovic this summer, he’ll have the chance to write his own legacy at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
