Nottingham Forest hold ‘positive’ talks over keeping key attacker at the City Ground -…

Among the ongoing transfers, Nottingham Forest are also working hard to keep their star players at the City Ground.

Neco Williams signed a new contract to kickstart the plans to keep Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad intact, with a number of other players also in line for new deals.

With his contract set to expire, Willy Boly also extended his Forest stay for another season, providing vital experience of European competition.

Perhaps most important, though, is the future of one of Forest’s star attackers, with a new update suggesting that contract talks are on the right track.

Nottingham Forest hold ‘positive’ talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi

With the prospect of Anthony Elanga moving to Newcastle United looking more and more likely, Forest cannot afford to lose another of Espírito Santo’s preferred attacking players.

Therefore, the Forest manager will be delighted to hear that, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Callum Hudson-Odoi could be set to extend his stay at the City Ground.

Sheth said: “Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives have been in Athens this week having talks with Nottingham Forest officials over a new contract. Discussions ‘positive & ongoing’.”

The perfect news for Forest fans amid the Elanga exit talks, Evangelos Marinakis will hopefully be able to secure Hudson-Odoi’s future to ensure that there isn’t too much upheaval from last season’s successful side.

However, with the likely absence of Elanga, Hudson-Odoi will need to step up and help provide the numbers that the Swedish international produced last season.

Callum Hudson-Odoi must step up to help replace Anthony Elanga

It’s already been a positive summer for the winger as Hudson-Odoi was delighted about Espírito Santo’s new contract, but his new deal will come with pressure to up his game even further.

Last season, Elanga was comfortably clear of the left winger in terms of assists, while also scoring one more goal than Hudson-Odoi.

Of course, the ex-Chelsea man scored crucial winning goals against Liverpool and Manchester City, but he will be under pressure to be a part of replacing the output that Elanga produced.

Whoever is brought in to replace the Swede will be judged more closely, but signings can take time to adapt, giving Hudson-Odoi the perfect platform to assert himself as the forward that his manager can rely on.
