Leeds United have moved to tie down one of their rising stars to a long-term contract after agreeing a deal with goalkeeper Rory Mahady. The 18-year-old player has signed a new three-year contract after being rewarded for his progress in the club's academy.
The teenager emerged as a real presence in Scott Gardner's under-21s team last season, going on to make 17 appearances in Premier League 2, playing a big role as the young Leeds team were also crowned champions of the inaugural National League Cup.
His impressive form convinced Scotland to promote him from the under-19s side which he had played for eight times to make him an under-21 international with his debut coming in March of this year.

Leeds have high hopes for Mahady, as a three-year contract underlines. The Whites are currently on the hunt for a new first team goalkeeper ahead of the club's return to the Premier League, with a number of recognised internationals along the names linked.
There is a growing expectation that Illan Meslier will depart the club this summer, having previously been seen as a generational player who could have occupied the number one shirt for many years to come. That stance has changed on the back of a difficult season, with Leeds now set for a shake-up in the goalkeeping department.
While Mahady is some way off pushing for a first team start, he will be part of that new goalkeeping set-up moving forward as his rapid rise to prominence continues.
