Sunderland strike €23m agreement for winger – Medical planned for next week

Sunderland are pushing for a deal with Club Brugge for Moroccan winger Chemsedine Talbi and are close to an agreement with the Belgian side.

That’s according to journalists Sacha Tavolieri and Hanif Ben Berkane, who both cover Sunderland’s efforts today.

Tavolieri initially reported that Sunderland and Brugge are in talks over a deal worth close to €20m for Taibi this summer. The 20-year-old is keen on the move and a five-year contract is ready for him at the Stadium of Light.

In an update to that initial information, he now reports that the deal is now close to being agreed for €23m with bonuses included. Taibi is still in Belgium but is expected in England early next week to complete a medical and then sign his contract.

Hanif Ben Berkane backs this up, reporting that there is an agreement in place between Sunderland and Brugge for the winger. He says this is for €23m and the player will sign a deal until 2030.

He also adds that the Moroccan is set to undergo a medical next week ahead of becoming Sunderland’s latest in addition in an already busy summer transfer window.
