The funeral for Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who died in a car crash in Spain, was held in Gondomar, Portugal.

The service was attended by Jota's family, Liverpool manager Arne Slot, captain Virgil Van Dijk, and numerous teammates.

Prominent figures from Portuguese football, including national team-mates like Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, along with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, were also present.

Jota and Silva died early on Thursday morning when the Lamborghini they were travelling in crashed and burst into flames on the A-52 in Spain, with a suspected tyre blowout and speeding under investigation.

Liverpool Football Club postponed pre-season activities and lowered flags to half-mast at Anfield as a mark of respect for Jota and his brother.
