Manchester United have announced the extension of Rachel Williams’ contract until 2026. The 37-year-old previously played for Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Birmingham City, Chelsea, and Notts County Ladies before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2020. After two seasons with Spurs, Williams signed for Manchester United in 2022.
Since joining the club, Williams has made 79 appearances and scored 21 goals, including the crucial goal that secured United’s spot in the Women’s FA Cup final during the 2023/24 season. She scored her first goal for the club at Old Trafford in a 5–0 win over Aston Villa and has continued to deliver vital goals as a super-sub in the seasons that followed.
Rachel Williams said: “I am delighted to be continuing at Manchester United.
“The growth we have seen over the last few years has been great to be a part of and I look forward to lending my experience to this exciting squad and continuing to play my part in the squad.”
Director of women’s football, Matt Johnson, said: “We have a young, exciting squad which needs to be balanced with experience and leadership.
“Rachel makes a significant impact, on and off the pitch, and embodies the squad’s togetherness and hard-working spirit.”
According to Emma Sanders, Manchester United are interested in Liverpool midfielder Fuka Nagano. The Japanese international’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of June. Although Nagano has received multiple offers, she has yet to accept any.
Fuka Nagano joined Liverpool in 2023 from North Carolina Courage. She began her career with Urawa Reds and went on to play for Hyundai Steel Red Angels, Chifure AS Elfen Saitama, and Mynavi Sendai before moving to the [NWSL](https://womenfootball.blog/national-womens-super-league-standings/).
