Silva and Dias knew Jota more than most in the football world, having spent many years with the 28-year-old with the Portuguese national team and competing against the talented forward when Man City played both Liverpool and Wolves.

The City duo posted beautiful tributes to their friend on social media this week and were present on Saturday morning at Jota’s funeral, where both Silva and Dias laid flowers as a tribute to the 28-year-old as they joined several of their Portugal teammates to pay their final respects.

Jota loved playing alongside Silva and Dias, as the Liverpool star stated that the Man City pair were two of the best he has ever played with during his career.

The trio enjoyed a lot of success together with the Portugal national team, which continued this summer when they won the UEFA Nations League.

Jota previously stated that Silva was one of the most intelligent players in world football, and the duo were a nightmare for defenders when they had to face the Portuguese attacking duo; therefore, it is not a surprise that they enjoyed so much success with their national team.

The trio won two UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025, which was the height of their success with their country. The Portuguese stars would also get to the quarter-finals of the European Championship together in 2024, which is also the furthest they went at a World Cup in 2022.

Silva played with Jota on 37 separate occasions, with the duo linking up for goals twice.

The Man City star will now treasure both of these moments forever after saying his final goodbye to his friend on Saturday morning.
