The news that five Manchester United players had informed the club of of their desire to leave Old Trafford this summer was swiftly followed by UEFA's announcement that they had fined a number of clubs for 'not complying with the football earnings rule'.
Hajduk Split were never likely to be on United's radar when it comes to selling players this summer, but some of the other clubs involved in UEFA's announcement may well have been.
Barcelona, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Lyon, Porto and Hajduk Split were all stung by UEFA on Friday evening, with punishments ranging from £17.25million to £259k.

The academy graduate recently floated the possibility of playing at Barcelona in a chat with a Spanish influencer, but with the Catalan giants struggling to balance the books even before they were slapped with a £13m fine, are they genuinely in a position to offer Rashford what he will want?
Not only will Rashford demand a hefty salary, there's also the transfer fee to consider. United want £40m for the England international, and while Barca aren't exactly working on a shoestring budget, there's been a notable tightening of the purse strings over the last couples of seasons at Camp Nou.
The Manchester Evening News understands United expect Rashford to , and Barcelona will always be an attractive destination for any player looking for a move to foreign soil. Barcelona have long appealed to Rashford, but sources close to the player insist he is not prepared to take a wage cut on his £325,000-a-week salary.
With wages totalling nearly £17m a year and a £40m transfer fee, Rashford won't come cheap. One of the biggest clubs in Europe being handed a £13m isn't the news United or Rashford wanted.
