Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno has officially joined Manchester United.
The 18-year-old was signed during the winter transfer window but was unable to finalize the deal because of his age.
He has now arrived in England and star defender Leny Yoro has been helping him settle in as broken by CentreDevils.
Following his graduation from the Porteno academy in July 2024, Leon quickly became the team’s starting left-back, scoring four goals in 33 games.
Leon’s desire to join the Red Devils was equally as strong as United’s, which is not surprising given the young player’s already excellent skill.
“Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset.”
Leon said in response to Matias Cuevas, a Paraguayan reporter concerning his transfer in a airpost interview.
I’m going to dominate the preseason, and I’ll be playing with them in one or two games.”
Given that Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass are already playing in the position at Old Trafford.
This attitude demonstrates how committed Leon is to putting in the work and fighting for his spot.
Now the defender has took it social media to open up about the move which is now officialy confirmed.

“First of all, I want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to defend such a great badge as Manchester United.
I promise to give my best every day, in training, on the pitch, and off it.
Thank you to the club for the trust and to my family for always being by my side.
I hope to bring a lot of joy to all the Manchester United fans and everyone who supports me on this journey.
One more goal achieved. From Paraguay to the world. Let’s go Red Devils! ❤️🖤❤️🖤”
No doubt the passion being brought by the 18-year-old will not only excite fans but also Amorim who’s keen to have players on the pitch who want to be wearing the United shirt proudly.
