Arsenal have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, as discussions over personal terms have reportedly begun. The 23-year-old England international, currently preparing for the Club World Cup with Chelsea, is said to be open to the idea of a move to the Emirates Stadium — though he has not formally requested to leave Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners, who are prioritising the addition of attacking reinforcements this summer, view Madueke as a versatile option who can provide depth and competition on the flanks. Mikel Arteta’s side is actively exploring wide players to offer support to Bukayo Saka on the right wing and add creativity and unpredictability in the final third.
While Madueke remains fully committed to Chelsea’s current objectives, including the upcoming Club World Cup, his openness to a move signals a potential shift in his future. Despite being under contract at Chelsea and not actively pushing for a departure, the winger has not ruled out the possibility of joining Arsenal, especially given the promise of Champions League football and a more defined long-term project under Arteta.
So far, there is no agreement between Arsenal and Chelsea, and no formal bid has been submitted. Talks remain in the exploratory phase, with Arsenal working to understand the player’s wage expectations and long-term vision. The Gunners are being cautious with their summer spending and are unlikely to pay over the odds, especially considering Chelsea are believed to value Madueke at around £50 million.
This valuation is currently a sticking point. Arsenal are not willing to meet that figure outright and would likely explore alternative structures or even wait to see if Chelsea’s stance softens later in the window. Still, with personal terms now being discussed, it shows the seriousness of Arsenal’s interest and how highly they rate Madueke’s potential.
The player, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, has shown flashes of brilliance with his pace, dribbling, and ability to cut inside onto his left foot. However, he has struggled with consistency and game time amid Chelsea’s crowded squad of attackers. A move to Arsenal could offer him a clearer role and a better fit tactically in Arteta’s 4-3-3 system.
For now, Madueke is focused on Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign, and all parties are expected to revisit discussions later in the summer. Should Arsenal and Chelsea come closer in their valuation, a deal could be on the cards — but nothing is imminent.
In the meantime, Arsenal continue to monitor other targets in wide areas as Andrea Berta and Arteta weigh up their options. Still, Noni Madueke remains a name to watch as the Gunners quietly advance their summer business.
