Manchester United can sign Ollie Watkins only if…

Manchester United are heavily linked with Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa. They are in desperate need of new striker and Watkins can be a great addition. But, this move depends on one very important condition.

Man United are in desperate need of a new striker. Both Hojlund and Zirkzee have failed to impress at Old Trafford. Hence, Ruben Amorim has asked for a new striker. He wants a proven number nine who can score on regular basis.

Earlier, United wanted Liam Delap but then lost the race for him. They are also on the verge of missing out on Viktor Gyokeres. The Red Devils will miss European football next season due to which top players are hesitating to join them.

But, United are finding it easy to convince Premier League players. They have already signed Cunha and the Mbeumo deal will be completed soon too. Hence, they are trying to do the same at striker position too. As of now, they are linked with Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa.

Villa can be forced to sell their top players due to PSR. They are ready to cash-in on Watkins if a right offer arrives. The 29 year old can be a great addition to United due to his experience. He will not be a long-term solution but can surely help United to get back at top level.

Manchester United can sign Watkins only under one condition

According to Football Insider, Watkins fits perfectly in the needs of United. But, a lot will depend on Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils will first need to get rid of the Danish striker before signing Watkins due to their financial situation.

“If Man United are looking at a good centre-forward to come in and improve their squad, Ollie Watkins will tick a lot of boxes. Rasmus Hojlund … a lot will depend on what happens with him, because United probably can’t afford to go out and buy Watkins on top of Mbeumo and Cunha” – Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider.
