Leeds United have made it clear that they want a new striker this summer. Even after adding Lukas Nmecha, the plan is for another center forward to join the squad.
Last season, Joel Piroe played almost every game in the Championship on the way to Leeds winning promotion. Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph were the backups, but they barely saw the field from January. This could be the reason why the club plans to add two strikers to the first team.

Lecce’s Nikola Krtovic has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road this past week. Reports suggested that Leeds have agreed on a fee with the Italian side, but the player is yet to agree to personal terms. Local media believe Krstovic is holding out for a move to another Serie A side. Lecce value the 25-year old at £25.5million, a steep fee from the deals Leeds have made this summer.
Commentator Ian Darke has weighed in on this transfer, saying that it is a ‘gamble’ to spend that much on the striker:
“A player succeeds in a good league, facing good defenders in Italy, for him to come up with 11 goals, suggests he knows where the back of the net is.” he told MOT Leeds News.
“That is quite a big fee, it is a punt and you would have to say, it is a bit of an expensive punt.
“They will only know when they get to November or December, whether it is a punt that is liable to come off.
Is Krstovic worth the fee?
Nikola Krstovic has 18 goals in two Serie A seasons since joining Lecce. He has only played senior level football for just four seasons. Lecce signed him for just £3.45million and could get close to ten times that value for just two years of football.

Krstovic is good and has the ability and statistics to match, but Ian Darke may be right. £25.5million for the striker is a gamble.
