Leeds United are back in the Premier League and making preparations to ensure they thrive in the top division.

Leeds have already signed Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol and Sebastian Bornauw this summer, and more signings will be targeted to help build an improved squad at Elland Road.

Leeds are widely regarded as one of the biggest clubs in England, and it’s generally considered a good thing that they’re back in the big time.

Indeed, the club was recently shouted out by Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen on social media ahead of the British GP.

Max Verstappen offers a heartfelt compliment to Leeds United

Verstappen has won the last four Formula 1 Championships, and is considered by some as the best F1 driver ever, although he has ground to make up if he wants to make it five in a row this year. He drives for the Red Bull team.

During some downtime before the British Grand Prix, Verstappen featured in a video for the Red Bull UK TikTok account and offered a heartfelt compliment to Leeds.

He was playing a fun ‘Guess the Football Badge’ game, in which part of each badge was obscured.

He correctly guessed all ten badges, including the Leeds badge, which he described as “very lovely” – something that will no doubt go down well with his Red Bull bosses and indeed Leeds fans.

Leeds will be looking to build a legacy

Leeds is a club that feels they belong in the Premier League. They’re a recognisable brand, not only in England but across the globe.

They’re not one of these teams that are happy to yo-yo between the top two divisions, collecting the television money from the Premier League and using it to dominate the Championship.

Leeds United major honours

First Division champions 1968-69, 1973-74, 1991-92

FA Cup winners 1972

League Cup winners 1968

Leeds’ owners realise that it will take significant investment to avoid relegation this season, and they are showing early signs of willingness to spend that money. Respect be given to 49ers Enterprises for that.

Nmecha and Bijol should prove to be solid signings, and it looks like a shrewd bit of business to recruit Belgian defender Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg as well.

Leeds fans will be hoping that the transfer window continues like this, so they have a squad ready to do them proud in the top division this season.
