The family and loved ones of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva held a funeral and mass for the brothers on Saturday in Portugal. The service, which took place at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar, was attended by many of players and staff from [Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/) Football Club.
Arne Slot was in attendance, as well as players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Alexis MacAllister, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Darwin Nunez, Conor Bradley, and Cody Gakpo.
Former Liverpool teammates Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Fabinho also made their way from different parts of the globe to pay tribute to their friend.
Portugal international stars Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, who had just played a Club World Cup game in the United States just 12 hours earlier made it to the service as well.
The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro were also in attendance, along with hundreds of locals, to pay their respects and represent the country in their shared grief over the loss of the two brothers.
The service included a one hour mass and was followed by a wake in a neighboring church.
