West Ham United could disrupt the transfer market with a move for highly promising young player that Manchester United and Chelsea had both earmarked as a potential starter next season.

Graham Potter’s side are showing interest in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, with the 22-year-old having earned himself a reputation as one of the leading shot-stoppers in Serie A.

Suzuki continues to be monitored by Man Utd after several years following his progress. Although the Red Devils were content to see Parma sign him for €8.2 million last summer, they are still credited with an interest in the Japan international, who has also attracted attention from Chelsea.

Indeed, Suzuki went viral for one particularly incredible save he made last season in a Serie A clash against Roma.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs reports on X: “West Ham are the latest Premier League club to show interest in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki

“The Japan international has also been monitored by Manchester United and Chelsea.

“Move not guaranteed as Suzuki leaning forwards towards staying in Parma for one more season before moving to the Premier League.”

Suzuki is regarded as a goalkeeper with exceptional reflexes and is noted for his comfort when in possession. On the downside he remain a little inconsistent, which perhaps explains why a bigger club has yet to take a gamble on him yet.

At 22, he remains very young for a starting goalkeeper, and as such, perhaps staying with Parma for another season to gain more first-team experience before moving on would be a wise move on his part.

Equally, Parma are thought to value Suzuki around the €45m mark, a five-time markup on the price they paid for him a year ago.

He remains under contract with the Serie A club until 2029, so they are in full control of his situation for now.
