Amid the understandable angst of the Washington Commanders and their fans over star wide receiver Terry McLaurin and his contract extension dispute with the team, "Scary Terry'' himself seems to be enjoying his offseason as a Washington "artificial deadline'' approaches.
We've heard all about how the negotiations aren't necessarily "in a good place'' and we've experienced from the outside the holdout, which can be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to such disputes.
The team is slated to report to training camp on July 22, so the clock is ticking toward that "deadline''; surely all involved would like it solved by that time.
But for now? McLaurin is creating an image of him being a) not overly concerned and b) doing the right thing, as in Commanders fans' experience he pretty much always does.
As proof of the first impression?
Here's McLaurin sharing a photo of himself on Instagram, looking rested and ready to ... well, rest and get ready.
And here' another gem, featuring McLaurin at the Collectors Showcase of America event, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. ... with one admirer sharing a Bible verse with his favorite player.
As it stands, McLaurin has one year remaining on the three-year $70 million extension he signed in the summer of 2022. He's not made public his financial wishes now, but the going rate for star wideouts has risen to the $30 million APY level and above.
Last year, the Commanders, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels advanced to the NFC title game as McLaurin caught a career-high 13 touchdown passes - and then caught three more TDs in the playoffs.
The 2025 Commanders would like to accomplish all of that and more ... when the negotiations re-start and the vacations end.
Oh, and a fan's prayer mixed in couldn't hurt.
