The football world remains in mourning following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Since the news was confirmed, tributes for Jota and Andre Silva have been flooding in, including from Wolves players past and present.
Director of Football Matt Wild and Chairman Jeff Shi have also paid tribute to the two brothers in their own words.
Since his initial message of condolence on social media, former Wolves captain Conor Coady has also opened up about the player he shared three seasons with at Molineux.
Conor Coady names Diogo Jota’s consecutive Europa League hat-tricks and his FA Cup goal against Manchester United as his favourite moments
Speaking to BBC Sport in a wide-ranging interview, Coady went into detail about what it was like to play alongside Jota.
As part of this, the former England international also revealed his favourite memories and moments of Jota on the football pitch during his time at the club.
As relayed by BBC Sport, ‘Coady picked Jota’s hat-tricks in successive Europa League games [against Besiktas and Espanyol] during the 2019-20 season as one of the standout moments of his Wolves career.’
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Coady said: “It was like nothing to him. It was like it was dead easy. That’s how good he was. It was like he was meant to do it.”
“He scored a goal against Aston Villa in the Championship that was unbelievable, but his goal against [Manchester] United summed him up as a footballer – his pace, his power. His technique to finish it with his left foot at the near post.”
The centre-back also added his touching memories of what Jota was like off the pitch, stating: “The infectious personality within a dressing room and how he helped us as a team, just being able to share a dressing room with a mate – it will live with me forever.
“The whole three years will live with me forever, and I’ll make sure that my family and my kids will always know the stories about me being able to share the pitch with him because he was an incredible fellow.”
Wolves share a beautiful tribute video of Diogo Jota on social media
With the news still incredibly raw, Wolves have shared a heartfelt video of their former forward on social media.
Captioned, ‘You made us happy, Diogo. We will never forget you’, the video goes through Jota’s best moments and goals for Wolves.
Included here are numerous Championship goals and the Championship trophy lift after the 2017/18 season, multiple Premier League strikes (including the last-minute winner Jota scored against Leicester at Molineux in the 2018/19 campaign), and Coady’s aforementioned two favourite moments.
Additionally, as these are shown, Jota’s own words from his time at the club are played, as well as the things Coady said about him while he was there.
It is a beautiful tribute, one that fittingly remembers a player who was loved and appreciated up and down the Premier League and across the world.
