Son of ex-Super Bowl champion commits to Notre Dame

Notre Dame has landed an official commitment from the son of a former Super Bowl champion.

Kaydon Finley, who is the son of ex-Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley, announced on Friday that he has committed to Notre Dame for the Class of 2026. The 4-star wide receiver from Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas, chose the Fighting Irish over the University of Texas, which is Jermichael’s alma mater.

Kaydon told ESPN’s Eli Lederman that he has established a close relationship with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and Freeman’s staff. Finley was also impressed with some of the other players he saw Notre Dame recruiting.

“On my (official visit), the recruits they brought in that weekend was a special thing,” Finley said. “Notre Dame doesn’t just recruit any type of player. You have to be a special person to be able to go there. So the people they’re bringing in with me had a big impact on where I decided to go.”

Kaydon has caught 148 passes for 2,552 yards and 34 touchdowns over three high school seasons

Jermichael Finley played for the Packers from 2008-2013. He won a Super Bowl with the team in 2010 and was a trusted target for Aaron Rodgers for several seasons, finishing with 223 passes for 2,785 yards and 20 touchdowns in eight seasons.

The elder Finley has made headlines since he retired for bashing Rodgers.

Kaydon has won two state championships with Aledo. He is one now of the top-ranked players in Notre Dame’s 2026 class.
