Curtis Samuel's days with the Buffalo Bills may be numbered.

The Buffalo Bills 2025 season will be here before everyone knows it, and for the Bills, this could be the season to remember.

Buffalo has been so close to knocking down the door to reach the Super Bowl, but they have come up short in the last five years.

The Bills went out this offseason to ensure they would position themselves in a good spot to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1990s.

Buffalo Added Two New Wide Receivers This Offseason

Buffalo made sure they gave quarterback Josh Allen enough playmakers for this season, which included adding wide receivers Josh Palmer and Elijah Moore.

Palmer and Moore recognize their significant roles on the offense, and if they fail to fulfill those roles, there is a chance the team may not reach the Super Bowl.

Since the Bills went out and added receiving help, some players at the position have fallen down the depth chart.

Eight-year widereceiver Curtis Samuel, who signed with the Bills last offseason, has moved down the depth chart a little.

Last season, Samuel recorded 253 receiving yards and one touchdown in 14 games played.

Curtis Samuel Named Worst Contract On The Bills

Samuel is entering the second season of his three-year, $24 million contract, andBrandon Ray from Fansided thinks it’s the worst contract on the team.

“Last offseason, the Bills signedCurtis Samuel to a three-year, $24 million deal as he came to Buffalo from Washington (and he also played in Carolina under Bills’ OCJoe Brady). I understand that Samuel was dealing with injuries last season, but for him to only put up 253 receiving yards and one touchdown in the regular season is completely unacceptable,” Ray wrote.

“You also have to consider the fact that the Bills’ offense didn’t have a true No. 1 receiver going into last year, so that gave Samuel a chance to make a big impact right from the beginning,” Ray continued. “Now, I would consider him the WR4 or WR5 going into this season just based on what’s happened this past offseason. According to Spotrac, Samuel’s cap hit is over $9 million (8th highest on the roster), and his dead cap hit is over $12 million. Long story short, the Bills are stuck with this contract for atleast one more season with the potential to get out of it next year (if Samuel once again disappoints).”

Buffalo Could Move Off Samuel

The Bills must not have liked what they saw in Samuel last season since they went out and added two receivers who play the same role in the offense as he does.

Every team has a bad contract on their roster they want to move off of, and Samuel seems like the one for the Bills.

Samuel’s contract might not be ideal, but at least it isn’t that of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is getting paid $230 million over five years, has appeared in only 19 games since 2022, and will miss the entire 2025 season due to an Achilles injury.
