Championship club agree to sign a player in the same position as Leeds United target - journalist

Leeds United might be looking to secure some bargain deals from the Championship with their Premier League return.

Daniel Farke will know all about the Championship as that’s where he thrives, but he will want to replicate these fortunes in the top flight.

There have been plenty of targets linked with Leeds from the Championship, but none more than Gustavo Hamer who wants Premier League football.

The signing of the Dutchman would revolutionise Farke’s midfield and could give them a major step in avoiding relegation.

Along with the Sheffield United star though, Farke has potentially just been handed the chance to go all out for another Championship player.

Norwich City agree replacement for potential Leeds United signing

Farke will know all about Norwich City from his time there.

Many of his former players have been mooted with a switch to Elland Road, but he’s yet to actually complete one’s signature.

Max Aarons was meant to sign this summer, but instead, it appears as though Aarons is going to Rangers.

But the main target from Norwich who could join is Josh Sargent, as the American has been flirting with a Farke reunion.

The German was the one who signed the striker for the Canaries in 2021, and it has been said Leeds are looking at a £16.8m deal for Sargent.

This likelihood has now been boosted, as Norwich are set to complete the signing of Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, who scored 17 goals last season, according to Journalist Sebastian Denis.

The Dane will challenge Sargent’s place, and may even send a signal to the American that he will be allowed to leave.

It seems like the Canaries have done well to keep Sargent for this long, as he has been tearing the Championship up.

His form proves he’s destined for the Premier League, and Norwich’s new striker deal might have opened the door for Farke to make it happen.

Although he didn’t score under Farke, he showed promise that needs to be rediscovered in the Premier League, with some outrageous finishes.

Leeds are still keeping tabs on Sargent, and the 25-year-old will surely be more keen on a move back to the top flight.

Norwich have had their time, but now it’s Sargent’s time to potentially be Leeds’ saviour next season.
