‘Desperate’: Club now really want to sell their ‘incredible’ player to Arsenal - journalist

Arsenal’s search for a new number nine has been ongoing for over two years at this point, and during that time, there have been a number of players strongly linked with Arsenal.

Alexander Isak was Arsenal’s dream target at one point, while Viktor Gyokeres has been strongly linked to Arsenal too.

Arsenal have been linked to Benjamin Sesko on numerous occasions over the past 18 months, and they remain keen on the RB Leipzig star.

Speaking on The Sun’s YouTube channel, Charlie Wyett has given an update on the Sesko situation at Arsenal, and he says that RB Leipzig are desperate to now do a deal with Arsenal over the striker.

RB Leipzig desperate to sell Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal

Wyett gave an update on Sesko as Arsenal continue to be linked with the Bundesliga star.

According to the journalist, Sesko is desperate to join Arsenal, while Leipzig are desperate to do a deal with Arsenal too.

However, the Gunners are stalling on a move which is creating a bit of a problem.

“I think he’s desperate to go to Arsenal, and I think Leipzig are desperate to sell to Arsenal. Leipzig were hoping when the transfer window opened at the start of June they could get a quick sale to Arsenal,” Wyett said.

“They know he’s going, they want to sell him, the player wants to go, they want the money to buy other players, so they wanted to get that deal done, but it hasn’t happened. Arsenal are being a bit slow.”

Dates Arsenal’s biggest signings were completed

As Wyett says, Arsenal are being slow as they search for a new number nine, but there is a fine line between being slow and being calculated.

Indeed, Arsenal don’t want to rush into any deals this summer, they need to think meticulously before splashing huge cash on any new additions.

Arsenal have been here before where they’ve needed to get the right player in at the right time, and, often, their biggest transfer dealings haven’t happened so early in the summer.

Arsenal’s biggest signings Fee Date confirmed

Declan Rice £105m 15 July

Nicolas Pepe £72m 1 August

Kai Havertz £65m 28 June

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang £57m 31 January

Ben White £50m 30 July

Mesut Ozil £42m 2 September

Alexis Sanchez £35m 10 July

We’re only in early June, and many of Arsenal’s biggest signings happen in late June or even towards the end of the window.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil are undoubtedly two of the biggest and most important signings in Arsenal’s history, and those deals were not done until deadline day.

Sometimes it’s worth waiting for the right deal, and Arsenal may be making the right decision in being patient here.
