How Newcastle United could line up next season if main transfer rumours prove to be true

ยท 5 July 2025, 19:00

**Newcastle United are relentlessly linked with players in every transfer window, but unfortunately for Newcastle fans, so many of those links turn out to be nothing more than media hype.**

There may be truth behind them in some way, shape or form, but rarely do they ever pan out into actual signings.

Indeed, quite often, while the media are reporting on one player, Newcastle are actually working on signing someone else and end up surprising everyone.

After three barren transfer windows, this summer, the Magpies are expected to spend and several rumours are picking up pace now and could prove to be true.

How Newcastle could line up next season

We've created a lineup based on what we think may come off for Eddie Howe this summer, although it's worth noting that we expect one or two more new faces in the squad, but they may have to bide their time on the bench.

### **Goalkeeper**

**James Trafford** - We expect the deal for James Trafford to get done. The big question is whether he'll oust Nick Pope from the No. 1 spot immediately.

### Defenders

**Tino Livramento** - We should be able to keep hold of Tino despite apparent interest from Man City. Let's hope we do because he's only going to keep getting better.

**Giorgio Scalvini** - The rumours around Scalvini are intensifying, which suggests there could be some truth to the rumour. Again, it may take him time to oust Fabian Schar if he does arrive, but he will eventually.

**Sven Botman** - Hopefully, the big Dutch unit can stay fit this season and remind us why we were all so excited about him when he arrived.

**Lewis Hall** - Another one who really needs an injury-free campaign. He impressed everybody last season before his unfortunate foot injury.

### Midfielders

**Bruno Guimaraes** - El Capitan! Bruno, along with Sandro Tonali and Joelinton are irreplaceable. There may be a midfield addition if we're lucky, but they won't displace the core three.

**Sandro Tonali** - The midfield maestro really started to show us what he can do last season and he's still got room to get even better before he hits his peak.

**Joelinton** - Oh man we've missed seeing this wonderful man on the pitch.

### Forwards

**Anthony Elanga** \- It's looking increasingly likely that the Swedish winger will join Newcastle and will link up with his fellow countryman in Newcastle's ultra-rapid attack.

**Alexander Isak** - We'll keep hold of him and he will keep his place in the side. It's that simple. And with Elanga supplying him, he could be set for his best season yet.

**Anthony Gordon** - Completing the forward line that will give other teams nightmares is Anthony Gordon. Sure, he's got some making up to do, but we back him to do it.

As we've said, we expect there may be another player or two added beyond those three who made it into this lineup. We still need cover for Isak for one thing, but whoever we bring in is hardly going to knock him out of the side.

Our biggest worry now is that we've given all of these transfers the kiss of death, and they all collapse.
