Wolves are preparing for the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season
Wolves are preparing for their first full campaign under the guidance of Vitor Pereira. They have seen Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha head out the exit door already this summer. The pair have left for Manchester City and Manchester United respectively.
The Midlands outfit now have some vacancies to fill in their squad. Pereira has the chance to sign some players over the next couple of months. In the meantime, here is a look at where their additions from the 2015/16 season are now...
Wolves defensive and midfield reinforcements
Emi Martinez had a loan spell from Arsenal and played 15 games, 13 of which came in the league. He has been at Aston Villa since 2020 and has been the number one at Villa Park. The goalkeeper won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022 in Qatar.
Wolves swooped to sign left-back Sylvain Deslandes from Caen. The former France youth international was brought in to boost their defensive ranks. He struggled for regular minutes during his time at Molineux though and has recently become a free agent after leaving PAC Omonia 29M in Cyprus.
Cameron John arrived as a youngster from Southend United. He never made a first-team appearance though and was loaned out to Doncaster Rovers. He is currently on the books of York City in the National League after moving to Yorkshire last year.
Conor Coady was signed from Huddersfield Town and went on to become a key player for Wolves. The centre-back played 317 games altogether and found the net on seven occasions. He is now at Leicester City but his future is up in the air.
Right-back Nathan Byrne was acquired from Swindon Town, having previously been at Tottenham Hotspur. The 33-year-old moved over to America in 2022 to join Charlotte FC. He now plays for the MLS club under ex-Brentford and Aston Villa manager Dean Smith.
Mike Williamson also joined from Newcastle United on loan. He hung up his boots in 2023 and has since delved into the managerial world. The 41-year-old has had stints in the dugouts at Gateshead, MK Dons and Carlisle United and is now unattached.
Wolves attacking additions
Wolves brought in Michal Zyro to strengthen their attacking department. Prior to his transfer, he caught the eye in Poland at Legia Warsaw. He hasn’t played for over 12 months now since leaving Wisla Krakow.
Jed Wallace was added to the squad as a youngster from Portsmouth. He was later loaned out to Millwall who he later joined permanently. The winger is now at West Brom and has been with the Baggies since 2022.
Aaron Collins, who signed for Wolves in 2016, has recently made a shock move to MK Dons from Bolton Wanderers. He has decided to drop into League Two under Paul Warne. The Dons have ambitious plans to get promoted to League One.
The likes of Joe Mason, Grant Holt and Jeremy Helen also had spells at Molineux during the 2015/16 season. They have all now retired from the game. Meanwhile, Adam Le Fondre and Sheyi Ojo still play these days for FC United of Manchester and Maribor respectively.
