Arsenal have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Viktor Gyokeres over a five-year contract ahead of a proposed move to the Emirates.
CaughtOffside reports that the Gunners have seen off competition from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the Premier League and Serie A and persuaded Gyokeres to choose them. The Sporting CP striker has snubbed more lucrative offers from elsewhere and informed suitors that the North Londoners are his priority.
The 27-year-old has been one of Europe's most prolific strikers in recent years, finishing last season with 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions. He is one of two number nines on Mikel Arteta's radar, amid the club also pursuing RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

Gyokeres is said to have verbally agreed on a contract with Arsenal that includes an annual salary of £10m plus performance-related bonuses. He'd be handed weekly wages of £200,000 per week, making him the club's fifth-highest earner, above Bukayo Saka, who sits on £195,000 per week, per Capology.
Arteta has played a pivotal role in convincing the Sweden international to make the move to the Emirates. The Spaniard has told him that he'll be "central in the team's attacking plans".
Manchester United have been linked with Gyokeres since Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in November. But his former Sporting frontman prefers a move to the Gunners despite not ruling out an Old Trafford switch.
Arsenal will be playing in next season's Champions League and hoping to mount another Premier League title challenge after finishing second. It's been obvious a new number nine has been needed to help fire Arteta's men to major trophy success and Gyokeres fits the bill.

Sporting are thought to be holding out for as much as £80m for the former Coventry City striker, who is at loggerheads with the Liga Portugal giants over his price tag. His agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, is in 'advanced negotiations' with the North London outfit to try and finalise the transfer.
