‘I understand’: Kieran Maguire shares what he’s hearing about the PL after Everton points…

It’s safe to say Richard Masters and Everton aren’t on good terms after their Premier League history.

With Everton on the up again, it seems like the Premier League giving the Toffees an eight-point deduction has been slightly swept under the carpet.

Eight was the warranted punishment after Everton broke financial rules, but to have originally given them 10 would’ve been extreme.

Masters was booed at Goodison Park this season as the Premier League chief executive has a lot to answer for after he sanctioned Everton’s deduction.

But to make matters worse, what’s been happening elsewhere hasn’t made the situation any better, as Masters’ next plan is backfiring.

Everton won’t like what they’re hearing about Richard Masters’ Premier League plan

The Premier League and Everton will probably have a bit of tension forever now after the league’s failure to maintain consistency.

An example of this is Everton not getting to appeal their sanctions, with Man City’s charges issue proving they’ve been able to appeal.

Away from the Premier League, Sky Sports have been banned from speaking on City’s saga, which again wasn’t the case for Everton and Nottingham Forest’s situation.

It does give a hint of big club bias, and now what Kieran Maguire is hearing from the Premier League seemingly confirms this.

Maguire has been speaking to talkSPORT on bigger clubs receiving fines compared to point deductions after Chelsea received a €20m fine for their financial faults.

🚨 Aston Villa, Barcelona , Chelsea, AS Roma and Lyon are all fined by UEFA for breaching financial Fair Play regulations.

Although this was UEFA, there has been suspicion raised over Chelsea’s spending in England, which led Maguire to reveal what he’s heard about what the Premier League are failing to do with Todd Boehly’s regime.

“From what I understand from Richard Masters and the Premier League is that they want the rules to be tighter, but there’s no desire from club owners for that to be the case because these rules give these clubs a get out of jail free card,” Maguire said.

“From Everton and Forest’s point of view, it’s the inconsistency.”

Everton will be baffled by Premier League’s reluctance with Chelsea

It’s a strange scenario when the league was all for giving Everton a punishment almost straight away, but they are seemingly being bullied by bigger clubs like Chelsea.

The anger that will come from Everton and Forest’s side will not only be the inconsistency, but, like Maguire said, how some owners are able to just get away with a slap on the wrist.

When Everton were sanctioned, the league had no problem in making the rules ‘tighter’ back then, but now it’s Chelsea, it’s a different story.

Previously, it’s been suggested that the league have an anti-Everton bias as it almost seems lazy from Masters’ side of things to not pursue things with Chelsea’s situation.

It seems like other clubs are taking liberties with the rules at stake, and although Everton were in the wrong, owning up to their faults somehow has got them in worse trouble than a club like Chelsea, who continuously use this ‘get out of jail free card’.
