LeBron James is embracing the offseason and trying his hand at something new golf. With the NBA on pause and the Fourth of July weekend in full swing, the 40-year-old superstar took to the links, showing off his swing and having some fun in the summer sun. While his technique wasn’t quite on par with his basketball greatness, he was hyped when he made solid contact off the tee, even throwing in a bit of classic LeBron trash talk on the course.
The PGA Tour took notice and made it official on Saturday, welcoming the King to the green. “Welcome to the golf world, @KingJames! ⛳️,” they posted, giving the NBA legend a warm shoutout.

The moment felt lighthearted, but for many fans, it stirred bigger questions especially with retirement looming on the horizon.
James just opted into the final year of his deal with the Lakers, but rumors around his future are swirling. Rich Paul told ESPN, “LeBron wants to compete for a championship. He knows the Lakers are building for the future... but he values a realistic chance of winning it all.” The Lakers’ offseason moves haven’t exactly screamed “win now,” and that’s fueling talk that this might be LeBron’s last year in L.A.
Trade rumors have touched big-name teams like the Mavericks, Knicks, and even the Cavaliers. But so far, none have made a serious push, largely due to financial hurdles and timing. Even Dallas, where James has strong ties through Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, is reportedly only interested if there’s a buyout.
