Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels saw himself get mentioned in Eminem's latest song

The Washington Commanders put together a wildly surprising campaign in 2024 when they made it to the NFC Championship Game before coming up short against the eventual Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. Much of their success was due to their new quarterback Jayden Daniels, who turned in arguably the best rookie campaign in NFL history.

While the Commanders expect to take another step forward in 2025, much of their success will fall on Daniels’ shoulders. Thanks to his incredible season last year, Daniels has become one of the most popular players in the NFL, and that was clear as day when he ended up getting name-dropped in legendary hip-hop artist Eminem’s latest song.

Washington selected Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with hopes that he would become their franchise quarterback, and while it was only one season, he certainly looked the part in 2024 as a rookie. Daniels led the Commanders to 12 wins, throwing for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns, while also rushing for 891 yards and another six scores.

Daniels’ strong play earned him a Pro Bowl selection and the Rookie of the Year Award, as he stunned the league with his poise and dazzling playmaking skills in his first year in the league. After nearly reaching the Super Bowl last season, it will be championship or bust for Daniels and company, as they look to compete right alongside the Eagles in the NFC East.

Not only is Daniels a local hero for Washington fans, but he’s one of the most popular players in the league right now. That was clear as day when he immediately got name-dropped in a new rap song “Animals (Pt. 1)” by JID, which features Eminem. That Daniels ended up getting some praise in this song among all the athletes in the world shows how big of an impact he’s already managed to make.

“I’m in command like I’m Jayden Daniels,” JID rapped right at the beginning of his new hit song, which he released on Friday with Eminem.

Daniels accomplished so much in just one season of work, so in a sense, he’s given himself quite a tough act to follow. Winning Rookie of the Year and leading your team to the NFC Championship Game is no small feat, so the fact that Daniels did that as a rookie is wildly impressive. Now, though, the league knows what to expect from him, and the expectation is that winning will come when Daniels is playing for the Commanders.

While it may be tough, Washington has a strong crop of talent around Daniels, which was done in an effort to make his life even easier than he made it look under center last year. The NFC remains an extremely competitive conference, but Daniels already proved he can beat any team he finds himself up against. If he can take another step forward in his sophomore season, watch out, because chances are he will find himself getting mentioned in more songs moving forward.
