Arsenal’s hopes of landing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo have been handed a major boost, with Hand of Arsenal reporting that the Brazilian international has expressed a clear preference to join the Gunners if he departs the Spanish giants this summer.
The 24-year-old, a central figure in Real Madrid’s recent domestic and European triumphs, is said to be open to a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal emerging as his top choice. According to the report, Rodrygo’s representatives have already informed Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, both of whom submitted lucrative €100 million proposals, that the player is prioritising a move within Europe, specifically to North London.
Rodrygo has grown increasingly aware of mounting competition at Real Madrid following the high-profile arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Brazilian prodigy Endrick. While still under contract until 2028, the forward is now evaluating his long-term future as his role in Xabi Alonso’s starting XI comes under threat. Spanish outlet Marca suggests Los Blancos could be open to selling the winger for a fee between €80 million and €100 million.

Since joining Real Madrid from Santos in 2019, Rodrygo has scored 72 goals and provided 53 assists in 237 appearances, helping the club to two La Liga titles and a UEFA Champions League crown. Primarily deployed on the right flank, he is capable of playing across the front line, an attribute that appeals strongly to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Arteta, who is targeting high-quality reinforcements to mount a serious title challenge in the 2025/26 season, reportedly views Rodrygo as a marquee signing who could compete with Gabriel Martinelli on the left and offer further depth and flexibility in attack. The club’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, is believed to be fully supportive of the move and is exploring the financial pathways required to complete the deal.

While Arsenal remain in pole position, interest from fellow Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool could yet complicate negotiations. However, Hand of Arsenal claims Rodrygo’s camp has already signalled a preference for the Emirates Stadium project, citing admiration for Arteta’s tactical vision and the club’s recent rise as a consistent title contender.
Still, any potential move for Rodrygo will require careful financial planning. Arsenal are simultaneously working on other transfer priorities, including a new long-term contract for academy star Ethan Nwaneri and a potential deal for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
If the Gunners can navigate the financial and competitive landscape, the signing of Rodrygo would represent a major statement of intent as the club seeks to close the gap on domestic and European rivals.
