Arsenal have made a major move in their summer transfer strategy by reportedly agreeing personal terms with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, according toThe Athletic.
The 23-year-old England international is understood to have given the green light to a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta looks to add more firepower to his attack ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Madueke has emerged as a key target for the Gunners, who are aiming to build on their second-place finish last season by strengthening their frontline. Known for his direct dribbling, pace, and versatility on both flanks, the former PSV Eindhoven winger notched 11 goal contributions in 32 Premier League appearances last term despite a largely inconsistent spell at Stamford Bridge since his £28.5 million move in January 2023.
While Arsenal and the player have reportedly agreed on personal terms, formal negotiations between the two clubs are yet to begin. Chelsea, who recently bolstered their own ranks with the signings of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, are said to be open to letting Madueke leave at the right price. Sources suggest the Blues value him at around £50 million.

Madueke’s potential arrival would add depth and competition to Arsenal’s wide positions, particularly providing support and rotation for Bukayo Saka on the right wing. His ability to operate on either side also offers tactical flexibility for Arteta, who is keen to refresh his attacking options.

The pursuit of Madueke forms part of a broader recruitment drive at Arsenal this summer. The Gunners have also been linked with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, though the latter two are considered more difficult and costly targets.
A deal for Madueke could also extend the growing transfer relationship between Arsenal and Chelsea. Recent years have seen multiple players cross the London divide, including Kai Havertz, Jorginho, and Raheem Sterling. Arsenal also sealed a £5 million deal earlier this summer for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Despite the player’s willingness to join, there remain several hurdles. According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have yet to receive a formal bid from Arsenal, and Madueke’s involvement in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup could delay talks. Furthermore, the Gunners’ pursuit of a marquee striker and creative midfielder may impact how much they are willing to spend on a winger.
