Sources: West Ham make contact over Manchester United target who's 'one of the greatest talents in the world'

TBR Football can exclusively confirm that West Ham United have made contact over Zion Suzuki, who is also on the radar of Manchester United and Chelsea.

West Ham have been in the market for a new goalkeeper after Lukasz Fabianski left the London Stadium upon the expiry of his contract.

Likewise, Manchester United and Chelsea haven’t had much joy on the goalkeeper front over the past season, so they’re also on the lookout for new recruits in between the sticks.

TBR Football can also reveal Suzuki’s stance towards a potential move, along with what Graham Potter has made clear to West Ham’s hierarchy on the subject of a new keeper.

West Ham keen on Zion Suzuki but there are two issues

West Ham are one of a number of clubs showing an interest in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm.

The Hammers have had contacts with intermediaries working with his people to confirm their interest.

However, we are told by sources with knowledge of the situation that Suzuki is not pushing to leave Parma, who he only joined last summer.

Manchester United are long-term admirers and keeping tabs on him, whilst Chelsea also watched him earlier this season.

We understand AC Milan have also asked about him as they regard him as a possible replacement for Mike Maignan.

Graham Potter has made it clear to West Ham’s hierarchy he would like a new number one – but the Hammers are going to be restricted with their budget this summer.

TBR Football previously confirmed that Suzuki was on the Premier League’s radar earlier this year, with the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle United previously credited with an interest.

Why Zion Suzuki is so highly sought after

At just 22 years of age, Suzuki has already made a name for himself as one of the best young goalkeepers plying his trade in one of Europe’s big leagues.

Suzuki made 37 Serie A appearances last season and his efforts helped Parma – who had been promoted in 2024 – stave off relegation.

Breaking the Lines wrote earlier this year: ‘With an already eye-opening wingspan, his traits reach far and wide, with his notable asset being his immense presence in commanding the box and having that sense of composure and control.’

Thorsten Fink, Suzuki’s former manager at Sint-Truiden, previously said, as per Walfoot: “Zion is now our first goalkeeper.

“He’s considered one of the greatest talents in the world in his position and we have to polish him.”
