Chelsea are showing interest in highly talented Arsenal wonderkid. The player is very young and had his breakout season recently. He scored 9 goals and picked 2 assists to leave everyone amazed.
The star in question here is Ethan Nwaneri. He is only 18 years old but has been with Arsenal’s first team. He is their youngest player ever who debuted at only 15 years and 181 days. Nwaneri has now improved a lot and it has been seen in his performances in 2024/25 season.
Chelsea showing interest in Ethan Nwaneri
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are showing interest in Nwaneri. The player will be out of contract in 2026. If Arsenal are unable to tie him down to new contract the Blues might be seen making a move. But, it will not be easy to sign the 18 year old at all.
Romano has added that Arsenal and Ethan Nwaneri are in talks over new contract. But, the 18 year old wants guaranteed game time. Chelsea have a very high squad depth and hence they are unlikely to offer guaranteed game time at all.
Hence if Nwaneri leaves Arsenal, he will prefer to join a club where he is regular starter. However, Gunners will do all in their power to keep the 18 year old. They will start working out in strong order to tie him down to a long contract.

Why haven’t Arsenal tied Nwaneri to a new contract yet?
Nwaneri’s contract runs out in 2026. Hence, there are questions being asked on why is he not tied with a new contract yet. As of now, there are two reasons behind this approach from Gunners. First is, Nwaneri was busy playing for England under-21 in European Championship.
Second reason is due to the FA Law C13 that states – Players under age 18 can’t sign contract longer than 3 years. Nwaneri has turned 18 only in March. Arsenal want to hand him a long-term contract and hence they have waited for this long. They did the same with Myles Lewis-Skelly.
